Pelican International Music Competition for Young Artists

News

Dear PIMC applicants,

Thank you for your participation in 2021 PIMC. It takes a great deal of diligence, perseverance, and resilience to prepare for a competition, and we would like to congratulate you on your performance as it is a great feat in itself regardless of what the competition result may bring you. We have received tremendous numbers of applications, and the judging process is underway.

Applicants who have been selected as prize winners in each category will be notified individually via email once all submissions have been reviewed by our judges. Top three winners in each category (Qualified and Open) will be awarded a certificate and a medallion. The results will also be announced on PIMC’s website and Facebook on April 5, 2021.

While the result announcement in April concludes the competition for Qualified category participants, first prize winners of the Open categories will receive further instructions for the 2nd round of the competition. The email will follow shortly after the initial result announcement.

Please email us if you have any further questions at info@pelicanmusiccompetition.org.

Sincerely,

PIMC

About the competition

The Pelican International Music Competition is a competition open to young musicians from age 6 to 20 of any nationality in piano, strings, and flute. Launched by the Opus Music Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting musical growth in young artists, PIMC inaugurates its first season as a fully online music competition in various categories and age groups.

The competition gives two paths for applicants: Qualified categories are for those who are performing repertoire that are considered appropriate for their age and level, and Open categories are for those who are performing at an advanced level on substantial repertoire. While Qualified categories are in a single round, Open categories winners may compete in the second round for the Grand Prize Showcase Award, judged by distinguished international musicians. Please see Rules & Categories for more detailed information.

Applicants are judged by a numerical scoring system. The comment sheet is available to applicants after April 10.

Performance of Open categories 1st prize winners will be featured via YouTube link upon the conclusion of the competition. Release date to be announced later.

Video submission via YouTube is required at the time of application submission. Please see the guidelines for setting requirements. Application deadline is March 15, 2021, 11:59 P.M. (US-Pacific Time).
