About the competition

The Pelican International Music Competition is a competition open to young musicians from age 6 to 20 of any nationality in piano, strings, and flute. Launched by the Opus Music Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting musical growth in young artists, PIMC inaugurates its first season as a fully online music competition in various categories and age groups. 

 

The competition gives two paths for applicants: Qualified categories are for those who are performing repertoire that are considered appropriate for their age and level, and Open categories are for those who are performing at an advanced level on substantial repertoire. While Qualified categories are in a single round, Open categories winners may compete in the second round for the Grand Prize Showcase Award, judged by distinguished international musicians. Applicants are judged by a numerical scoring system. The comment sheet is available to applicants after April 20. 

 

Performance of Open categories 1st prize winners will be featured via YouTube link upon the conclusion of the competition. Release date to be announced later.

 

Video submission via YouTube is required at the time of application submission. Please see the guidelines for setting requirements. Application period is March 1, 2022 through March 31, 2022, 11:59 P.M. (US-Pacific Time).
